My soul warns me to abandon Heliodora’s desire,

for it knows the tears and jealousies of the past.

It orders me to do so, but I have no strength to give it up,

for she is shameless and warns,

and while she is warning she kisses me.

ψυχή μοι προλέγει φεύγειν πόθον Ἡλιοδώρας,
δάκρυα καὶ ζήλους τοὺς πρὶν ἐπισταμένη.
φησὶ μὲν ἀλλὰ φυγεῖν οὔ μοι σθένος γὰρ ἀναιδὴς
αὐτὴ καὶ προλέγεικαὶ προλέγουσα φιλεῖ.
